Tampa, FL, June 21, 2007 – Bush Ross shareholder Mark Basurto has been named to the board of directors of The Children’s Museum of Tampa, it was announced today.
Basurto has a long history of serving charitable causes since coming to Tampa Bay in the 1990s. Basurto currently serves on the Board of Directors for Friends of the Arts (FOTA) and he is also a mentor in the AOL/Time Warner Literacy Program. Basurto is a graduate of the Tampa Connection leadership and community service program. He and his wife Sophia are the proud parents of a young son. “The Children’s Museum of Tampa is one of those amazing charities that always seem to fall under the radar, and one of my goals is to help raise its profile,” Basurto said. “Aristotle once said that there is nothing so serious as a child at play, and when you watch kids at the Museum, it’s gratifying to know that they aren’t just playing – they’re learning. And what’s more, they are developing a love of learning every time they visit.”
